Art Town is packed with enjoyment!
Art Town is a street performance (Daidogei) festival with an unconventional approach. Although Daidogei can be performed anywhere as an entertainment for everyone, Art Town is one of the very few Daidogei festivals that can be enjoyed in the rich green environment of a park.
There are many ways to enjoy Art Town Tsukuba.
How you enjoy it is up to you: you can see every performance or you can follow your favourite artists; you can listen to cool music or you can browse through works of art; you can try a new taste in food or just relax.
Tsukuba is famous for its entertaining street vendors who sell healing oil made from bulrushes. This makes Tsukuba a Mecca for street performance.
Steeped in tradition, street performance is evolving into a contemporary art form, illustrating the old saying, gto understand the present, first understand the pasth. We call street performers artists at Art Town, because their highly professional performance is nothing less than art.

Art Town is a regional promotion project; planned and managed by the Tsukuba City Society of Commerce and Industry and its Youth Division, in co-operation with volunteers from Tsukuba. Our aim is to create and promote a new festival culture in the South Region of Ibaraki Prefecture. Please look out for more information from the international city of Tsukuba.
